I’m a good guy from the North of Glasgow who has been lurking on Celtic News Now (CNN) for some time now. I would like to think that I take a balanced view of how my team is progressing year in and year out. Over the past three seasons it has been the most magical experience for my generation of supporters, we’ve been spoiled with an ‘Invincible’ season followed by another treble. This is unheard of in today’s ‘Modern Game’.
What is the ‘Modern Game’? Skill? Technique? Flair? Love? Fantasy? Something else, that magic je n’ais se quoi?
It’s money. No if’s no but’s, just cold hard cash. No badge kissing, no loyalty, not a whiff of playing for the jersey – It’s money!
For a died in the wool fan that is hard to take, especially a Celtic fan from Glasgow. A Glaswegian who has been brought up in the housing schemes; surrounded by poverty, alchoholism and violence. Celtic Football Club means everything to that child. Football means everything to that child, but Celtic is dear and will always remain one of the most cherished of memories that will make the heart swell and the face smile.
The aim of starting this Blog is to build a ‘timeline’ of some of the horrors I faced growing up in Glasgow during the 80’s and 90’s, with the only guarantee of some joy was my team could win at the weekend. This belief still holds true to this day, and I hope that in some way I can convey it.
I may not be a regular Blogger, remember this is all new to me! But I’m going to give it my best shot.
